made all, driven when challenged 2f out, ran on strongly
tracked leader, effort over 2f out, soon one pace
tracked leaders, took closer order over 3f out, ridden to challenge 2f out, kept on under pressure, not pace of winner
held up off the pace in 4th, ridden well over 2f out, no impression
ENABLE was beating Magical for the third time when landing the Eclipse at Sandown on her return to action and went on to win an epic battle with Crystal Ocean in the King George at Ascot later in the month. A potential lack of pace could make this tricky though John Gosden’s brilliant mare made all to win this in 2017 when beating only five rivals. Stablemate Lah Ti Dar found Magical too good in last year’s Champion Fillies’ And Mares at Ascot and that’s likely to be the case once again here while the other Ballydoyle filly South Sea Pearl is not up to this level but is a likely pacemaker if needed in that role.
