In depth

Verdict

IMPULSIVE REACTION followed up the promise of a Thirsk debut in late May with a neat success in a Musselburgh maiden and is clearly going the right way. He stays the trip, handles forecast ground and is taken to back up that Scottish victory despite needing to improve again. Craven should go well in receipt of 4lb from the selection as he's proved good enough to finish runner-up on both starts whilst suggesting he still has some learning to do and the additional furlong should suit. Newcomers to note include Roger Varian's Cobalt Blue, a son of Sioux Nation who has made such a good start at stud, and Sudden Ambush, a Cracksman colt debuting for Andrew Balding. It's also no secret that Kevin Ryan introduces many of his better juveniles at this track, which also brings Cynical into the equation.
