Etesaal is bound to be popular with backers but Godolphin's five-year-old entire has more to do than when landing a conditions race at Newmarket last time and a chance is taken with Promotion, who is taken to provide Sir Michael Stoute with a royal winner, with Mullins Bay rated the best of the remainder. The selection finished second behind easy winner Red Fort 12 months ago and is sure to have been laid out for this again having taken the same route as last year when fourth behind Notable Guest at Newmarket in April. The son of Sadler's Wells could hardly be better drawn than in stall one and Promotion is taken to provide The Queen with what would be a hugely popular success. Persian Lightning holds solid claims on the evidence of his latest form at Lingfield but has been done few favours with a draw in stall 18, while Corriolanus now looks to be in the grip of the handicapper. Mullins Bay has to be respected representing the O'Brien/Fallon combination from his good draw, while a market move for Pukka would be of interest. The vote though goes to Promotion, who looks to have plenty going for him.
