Verdict

The Geezer ran a fine race when second to Motivator in the Dante here but disappointed in the Derby behind Michael Bell's colt and is probably best passed over on that evidence with preference for Mountain High, who gets the vote ahead of Plea Bargain. The selection is a half-brother by Danehill to the likes of Islington, Greek Dance and New Morning and can be expected to improve with age and experience. Sir Michael Stoute's colt made an encouraging debut behind the useful Fashionable in the Wood Ditton prior to running out the easy winner of a Chester maiden. There should be plenty more improvement to come from this well-bred individual, who looks a better bet than Plea Bargain. John Gosden's colt stepped up on previous form when second in a Group 2 in France last time and has to be respected but that did not look to be the strongest of races. Neither Brahminy Kite nor First Row make much appeal on recent evidence and a chance is taken on the potential of the Stoute runner Mountain High.
