Cavalryman will probably start favourite here on the strength of his victory in the Dubai Gold Cup at Meydan in March. He's won at this level and higher in the past and would take all the beating if back to his best with the drop in distance unlikely to be a problem. Globe-trotting Joshua Tree won the Grade 1 Canadian International in October and also scored at Deauville last year. But he is one of two carrying a penalty here and might need this. Quiz Mistress had Guarantee behind when second in the John Porter at Newbury last month but the placings could be reversed here if a visor cures the latter's wayward tendencies and he easily has the beating of Sir Graham Wade on last year's form in the Melrose over course and distance. TOP TRIP was fifth in last year's Prix du Jockey Club and held his own in good company afterwards over longer distances. His reappearance over a trip too short at Longchamp will have blown away any cobwebs and Francois Doumen's four-year-old looks the one to be on here with last year's Irish St Leger winner Royal Diamond struggling to recapture his best form.
