With only two winning favourites from the last 10 renewals, this can be a punting minefield. So with that in mind, PARISIAN PYRAMID is a speculative selection. Proclaim is an old rival and can again go close, while Master Of Disguise and Sloop Johnb have the class to figure strongly and are respected. Sloop Johnb has returned with a vengeance this season and arrives here at the top of his game. However, there is a slight doubt regarding whether he truly gets six furlongs and, having gone up 5lb for his win here last month; he does have a good bit more on his plate today. Master Of Disguise also has a something to prove regarding the trip, as he flopped badly on his only previous attempt beyond the minimum distance. Still, he handled the stiff finish at Sandown really well on his seasonal debut, so can be fancied to be thereabouts if he has thrived since then. Proclaim was behind the selection when they met at Newmarket in May, so obviously needs to post an improved effort this time around. However, Parisian Pyramid is 1lb better off at the weights this afternoon and, considering David Nicholls' imperious record with sprinters, this half-brother to a multiple winner (She's Our Lass) is taken to come out on top once again.
