In depth

Verdict

Another difficult one to call and the familiar names of messieurs Channon, Goldie and the Easterbys all have runners that look set to play leading roles in this seven furlong dash. However, the vote just goes to the David Nicholls-trained True Night, who although not the most original of selections, is very hard to ignore from his current mark. Nicholls knows exactly how to get to the bottom of horses of this nature and the six-year-old looks primed for a return to form today. He was taken off his feet over a trip just short of his best on his only other previous try here but with more patient handling today he should be seen in a better light. He has the capability to tag on to a strong pace and he may just find this unfolding for him to swoop late if the likes of Dayglow Dancer and Sea Storm go off too fast. Albashoosh will appreciate any rain, whereas Raphael is another who is holding her form well and has solid each way claims if she runs up to her best but, like Blue Spinnaker, can only be backed for a place at best from the worst of the draw. Therefore the well-treated True Night could be the safest option in a tricky contest.
