Brian Meehan's New Christmas ran better when chasing home Ransom Note at Doncaster last month and has every chance judged by that effort but a 3lb rise since then makes this more difficult for him and a better bet looks to be RIGIDITY, who gets the vote ahead of Official Style. Sir Michael Stoute's colt was slightly disappointing on his reappearance at Newmarket last month but the yard's runners are in better form now so he should do better here racing off the same mark. Pat Eddery's Contract Caterer ran well enough at Newmarket first time up this term and he has to be respected along with Luca Cumani's Start Right, who is surely better than he showed at Sandown recently. David Barron's Tres Coronas was a good winner at Southwell when last seen in November but has yet to race as a three-year-old, while Clive Brittain's Azlak has more to do than when landing a handicap at Wolverhampton last month. The vote then goes the way of Henry Cecil's Rigidity, who showed a decent level of form in maidens as a juvenile and lost no caste in defeat on his handicap debut on his reappearance when chasing home Dandino at Doncaster last month and he can go one better today.
