Soft ground would be an unknown for Cartimandua so unless it beams down for 48 hours, preference is for Our Faye ahead of Eastern Romance. Sylvester Kirk's mare has had a patchy season so far and she was disappointing recently at Newcastle. She possibly found the ground too soft on that occasion although she has won on soft in the past, but her earlier form from Sandown is solid and she could run well at price. Cartimandua was very progressive last season and looks to have trained on; she has plenty of talent but is yet to race on softer than good. Salsa Steps ran a blinder behind Sabana Perdida at Lingfield and that horse has since franked the form by winning at Ascot. She must be considered a threat but her previous runs on soft have arguably not been as good as on a quicker surface. Eastern Romance is a game front-runner who should find the return to six furlongs in her favour; she has a bit to find on recent runnings with Look Busy though. The latter is interesting as she is flourishing at present but she is yet to win over this trip. Lady Grace and Vital Statistics are two more to consider, however it is Our Faye who receives the very tentative vote.
