        Verdict

        A decent maiden to open the card and it is hard to escape the claims of Yorgunnabelucky, who sets the standard on his first run and gets the vote. Mark Johnston's colt was only just held in a Redcar maiden on debut when he ran green and also hung. He will be much better for that run, which is comfortably the best form on offer here, and this brother of Shamardal can go one better. Paul Cole's string, and particularly his juveniles, have been going well this season and so there is hope of a good debut from Sultans Way. This Indian Ridge colt must have been showing a fair bit at home to be started here and he is bred to appreciate this sort of trip for now, so support for him would be interesting. Pilot Light will have to show plenty more than on his Doncaster debut, but he can improve for it, and the same can be said of Highland Storm, but of those with racecourse experience Mefraas looks the one most likely to trouble the selection on the evidence of his introduction at Newmarket. Even so, Yorgunnabelucky gets the vote.
