PEPPER LANE, Secret Venue and last-year's winner Highland Warrior could be the three to focus on here with the nomination going to the first-named. Now in the care of rookie trainer David O' Meara, the selection ran very well behind Esuvia at Redcar last time out. The first two were clear there (winner a well-handicapped and progressive horse) and off this mark of 63 he should run a big race. Alacity was in good form when last seen at Nottingham in November, Bravely is well-handicapped and needs a market check, whilst similar comments apply to Liberty Ship. Secret Venue ran well behind Mey Blossom at Thirsk last month and his trainer is starting to have a few winners, whilst Ridley Didley is a quick sprinter who should be suited by the way that races tend to unfold at York. Brierty is a course and distance winner but he needs to get over a poor Haydock run and so a bigger threat could be Highland Warrior. He too needs to forget his latest start but Paul Midgley has given the ever-green 11-year-old a break since and he remains capable of better. Pepper Lane is given the nod.
