A quality sprint handicap in which marginal preference is for HORATIO CARTER for whom the drop in trip and soft ground should hold no fears; the shortlist of dangers is headed by Damika, Harrison George and Eton Rifles. Stall 14 may prove to be a good draw on rain-softened ground and the drop back to a sprinting trip may be exactly what this son of Bahamian Bounty needs. He normally races prominently which will suit this track and he is now just 2lb higher than his last winning mark. Thebes has had a long season and it looks to be showing now, Excusez Moi is a real character but bustling with talent, whilst Oratory is an interesting three-year-old who has been off since running in the Solario Stakes last season. Tajneed's target looks more likely to be Ayr in a few weeks time, Able Master and Harrison George are both consistent, whilst Damika looks dangerously well-handicapped and Robert Winston is an interesting jockey booking. Eton Rifles is evidently happy with some cut in the ground and Howard Johnson's progressive sprinter must be high on any shortlist despite his mark of 88 looking tough. Master Rooney hasn¿t been seen since last October; if we take his Leicester beating of the now 101-rated Swiss Diva on face value then this opening handicap mark of 88 could be very lenient. Market moves for Silver Wind or Aldermoor would look significant, however in a competitive heat is it Horatio Carter who can sail home in front.
