Verdict

THE SNAIL may be able to build on a promising run in midweek and get the better of Berkeley Court and Ballinruane. The selection hasn't lived up to early expectations and has shown regressive form over hurdles whilst he took a heavy fall on his one run over fences. However, his mark has plummeted and he stayed on well at Hereford in the week and may well have finished closer with a clear run. He's well enough handicapped to be risked on his return to chasing in the hope that his latest run wasn't a flash in the pan. Berkeley Court has solid claims having won two of his last three starts but the way that he weakened at around this trip at Fontwell last time has to be a concern but he's turned out again quickly and is, presumably, none the worse for wear. Ballinruane doesn't win very often but he's been performing consistently for around twelve months now and could finish in the money again with stablemate Iris's Flyer also having claims but we're going to take a chance with The Snail.
