taken to post early, broke well, made all, pressed 2f out, shaken up, soon in command, ridden out

Just the four runners contest the opener, and although there's little form to go on, we'll select the Godolphin runner Global City to get the better of Green Poppy and Joe Caster. A 200 thousand guineas purchase in April, the breeding suggests there could be a bright future for him, and he was just touched off into second place in his previous run at Beverley in a better contest earlier in the month. It's the only Godolphin runner on the card, and Kerrin McEvoy' sole scheduled ride. He may try and set the pace to make all. The biggest danger could come from Joe Caster, his second outing, but first in 3 months. Also runner up on debut as a beaten favourite he never really looked like winning. James Eustace doesn't send out too many 2 year olds, although those he does tend to be placed. Green Poppy looks the improving sort for Eve Johnson Houghton having had a couple of outings at this level and could get involved, while there's been little promise shown so far from Usual Suspects. So we'll go with Global City.
