With Mick Channon in such great form at present, Irma La Douce will be a popular choice to land the finale, with Eastern Trumpeter, Mannora and Tuscan Flyer also leading candidates. The Channon yard are sending out winners left, right and centre but the victory of Irma La Douce came before the purple patch started. A battling winner at Carlisle a fortnight ago, the form has been franked already with the narrow runner-up Pepper Road going one better at Thirsk on Tuesday. Irma La Douce is still over a stone lower than this time last year and a similar effort should be enough. Eastern Trumpeter's stable had a winner on Tuesday, but this fellow has not won for some time. Undeniably well handicapped, he nevertheless would prefer a furlong less to travel. Tuscan Flyer has topweight but any moves in the betting ring should be noted, while Mannora ran her best race for some time at Lingfield and is another to consider for the frame. Mutabassir does not win very often and has more to do than when scoring in selling company. Irma La Douce has the soundest claims on recent form and is the percentage call.
