Escalade, with Philip Makin on board, can land the opener at the expense of Spitfire Bob and Moonshine Bill. Mark Brisbourne's six-year-old is well treated, having won off a mark of 70 last year and now more or less a stone lower in the weights. He showed up well when staying on but failing to match the finish of Windy Britain at Leicester nine days ago, and has a first-rate chance. Spitfire Bob was a course and distance winner two outings ago but might not have handled Epsom's undulations when trailing home last there three weeks ago and is not without a chance either. Moonshine Bill, also successful over track and trip, threw away his chance at Beverley when running wide into the straight, but kept on well. However, he can sometimes be a hard ride and we would prefer to stick with Escalade who gets the vote.
