Verdict

Averticus holds leading claims in this company and should open his account at the expense of L'Oiseau de Feu and Tracer. On the strength of a promising debut third at Windsor in July which has worked out well (the fourth Black Moma having scored since), Averticus was sent off as favourite on his next engagement at Lingfield 12 days later, but failed to get a clear run as they turned for home. He flew at the finish to get second, and is taken to make amends here with that experience to count on. L'Oiseau de Feu was also introduced to the game at Windsor, and followed that fair effort by finishing third at Folkestone when also sent off as market leader. The feeling is that he needs to improve more to trouble the selection, but is still the one to give him most to do. To complete a notable link, Tracer is yet another that debuted at Windsor before having too much use made of him at Newbury. Entered for Redcar's Two-Year-Old Trophy, he will need to win well before taking up that engagement. Brian Meehan has his youngsters in good form, but they do come on for the run, so with that in mind a watching brief is advised on Speedy Suzanne, with Averticus preferred.
