French import Lighted Smile gave little sign for encouragement on his British debut at Chepstow earlier this month and is probably best left out of calculations in a distinctly moderate contest where Monmouthshire gets the vote ahead of Snow Symphony and Aboyne. The selection has an obvious chance judged by official BHB ratings and, while he may be rated higher than he should be after just four starts, there is no doubt that his the gelding's trainer Michael Bell has found a suitable opportunity for the son of Singspiel. Desert Lightning has failed to trouble the judge in numerous starts, including in this grade, since his only success back in February 2005 and is probably best left out of calculations. Coffin Dodger would have claims on the form shown when landing a claimer here last month but he has twice disappointed since then, while Snow Symphony is open to improvement but has yet to prove that he stays this far. Aboyne has run creditably in claimers of late and would have claims if staying but he is far from certain to do so and preference is for the less exposed Monmouthshire, who is taken to make the most of the drop in class.
