Mahmjra has a string of consistent efforts to his name and deserves to win a race of this nature but Mick Channon's colt may again have to settle for a minor role behind Bulwark, with Bronwen rated the best of the remainder. The selection has shown improved form since being steppe dup in trip and being fitted with blinkers, winning at Warwick before finding just Crete to good at Leicester last time. Amanda Perrett's colt is 2lbs worse in with Mahmjra for the half-length that separated the pair at Warwick but is more likely to see out the extra distance today. Top weight Spear showed improved form at Doncaster behind Pagan Sword at Doncaster last time but that was over 1m2f and David Loder's colt is not certain to stay this longer trip. Cava Bien stepped up on previous efforts this term when upped to this trip at Nottingham on his most recent start so James Given's gelding has to be respected along with recent all-weather winner Bellalou. More solid claims are probably held by Jeremy Noseda's Bronwen, who is less exposed than most but not certain to stay today's longer trip. A safer bet then looks to be Bullwark, who has done little wrong of late and is taken to resume winning ways.
