Fiddlers Wood belied market odds of 16/1 when finding Under The Rainbow just half-a-length too good in the Zetland Stakes last week and can gain quick compensation here at the main expense of Marc of Brilliance and Dynacam. The last mentioned has shown only glimpses of ability in two starts on the all-weather but given her pedigree, and the fact that she is trained by Sir Michael Stoute, the chances are that the daughter of Dynaformer may do better now that she races on turf. Numeric was not beaten far on his debut here on soft ground and John Gosden's horses remain in good form so he has to be respected along with Mark Johnson's newcomer Maysoor, who is by Selkirk so may handle the ground. Stablemate King's Fable was well beaten on his Ayr debut under similarly testing conditions and is probably best watched and a bigger threat is likely to come from Godolphin's Marc of Brilliance, who has shown enough to suggest that he can win races but is not certain to handle today's testing conditions. After his effort in the Zetland, there are no such fears for Fiddlers Wood and he is taken to open his account.
