Deserving has shown enough in three starts, and is bred to go on the ground, so may be good enough to open his account here ahead of Mannikko and Bronze Star, who looks the best of the newcomers. The selection is nothing out of the ordinary but a reproduction of the form shown in his first two starts should suffice in this company on ground that, on pedigree, should suit. With Sir Mark Prescott's stable going through a quiet spell at present El Alamein is probably best watching and of more interest may be Diamond de Triano, who has yet to live up to his pedigree and may be capable of better than he has shown so far although today's softer ground is of concern. James Fanshawe is capable of producing one to win first time out so the well related Bronze Star has to be of interest, while Mannikko is speedily bred and seemed to handle the cut in the ground at Newmarket last time. However, he needs to improve to get the better of Deserving, who gets the vote.
