Sands of Barra seemed to handle the cut in the ground really well when scoring at Brighton last month and is taken to follow up off his 6lb higher mark and score at the main expense of Orchard Supreme and Orange Stravinsky. The last mentioned has to be respected coming, as he does, from the yard of Sir Michael Stoute but has yet to run on ground this soft and is far from certain to handle it. Mark Johnston does well with his runner sin this grade so Weekend Fever cannot be discounted despite the burden of top weight but he is another not certain to go on the ground and of more interest may be Alan Bailey's Glenbuck who landed a gamble at Catterick on Tuesday, although this looks tougher. Mick Channon's Zabeel Tower has run well in the soft before and is another to consider along with Richard Hannon's Catterick soft-ground maiden winner Orchard Supreme but Sands of Barra holds solid claims and gets the vote.
