In depth

Verdict

Angel Rock's debut behind Kandahar Run last season could hardly have worked out any better, and assuming that he doesn't drift markedly in the betting; Marco Botti's colt gets the vote ahead of newcomers Coliseum, stablemate Almonafis and Skycap. Only nine lengths adrift of subsequent Listed winner Kandahar Run on his debut, the selection was staying on nicely at the line and shaped as if he would take plenty out of the race. This step up in trip looks sure to suit and if he is fit enough on this first start back then this Rock Of Gibraltar colt should run well. Skycap is also nicely-bred as one would expect and this Godolphin colt needs respect, especially if well-backed although the stable haven't scored with two juvenile runners so far this season. Almonafis may be the more fancied of the Sir Michael Stoute newcomers, and he is elegantly bred but Richard Hills never gets too serious on a debutant. Stablemate Coliseum needs respect, whilst the Henry Cecil duo must be considered given the good form of the stable. Improvement may be expected from Capstan; however Angel Rock is the nomination.
