Verdict

Red Willie is taken to score over the more experienced Theatre Groom in what could be an informative finale. Martin Pipe's charge, a son of Master Willie, is owned by Terry Neill and comes from a stable that always do well with these sorts. He may well be a class above the opposition, with Theatre Groom the best of them as he has had an outing here already. He stuck to his task well enough behind the favourite, Debatable, but did seem to lack a gear. Royal Maid was also placed on this track on her debut and is another who can progress, while those looking for alive outsider could do worse than consider First Thought. Nothing special on breeding, she hails from a yard that had a couple of winners last week, and with tough Jamie Moore booked to ride, can run into a place at big odds. For the winner though, we return to Red Willie.
