Most can be given a chance in a wide-open contest. Bocking End and Lady Bayside are recent winners though the latter tends to save her best for Chepstow and both are more exposed than the handicap debutants. The latter group includes Divine Joy and Heartstone with the former blinkered for the first time today while Pietrafiore was five lengths behind the winner when third at Newmarket last time. MY FAVOURITE THING was even further behind Swiss Range when fourth at Newmarket but the latter went on to land a Listed race and the runner-up has also won since. Roger Varian’s filly gets the vote on that form.
Lady Bayside 8-1 (8-8) Made virtually all, ridden over 1f out, pressed inside final furlong, kept on gamely and found extra to assert towards finish, won at Chepstow 1m hcp (5) sft in May beating Red Cossack (9-3) by 1 1/4l, 5 ran.
