PROVOST gets the vote to land division two of the 7f handicap at the expense of Guildenstern and Cottonfields. While his recent course and distance win came as a surprise to many Provost had actually won on his previous visit to the track, so clearly Dunstall Park brings out the best in him. He's up 4lbs and down two furlongs in trip but the way he travelled when beating The City Kid, who runs in the opener, suggests the horse can win over seven as he did at Ayr in 2008. Guildenstern finished second to Crocodile Bay when last seen but can reverse the form thanks to a 6lb pull, in the process running a big race although he's yet to win at this track. Richard Guest's Crocodile Bay has disappointed twice since so arrives with something to prove and it'd therefore be no surprise were Bold Diva, sixth in the same race, to reverse the form too. She's considered, but the lightly-raced Cottonfields may be more of a threat if coping with this drop in trip which his pedigree suggests he should. The grey is 3lbs higher than when second last time but is unexposed and Eddie Ahern returns for the ride. Glenridding returns to the polytrack in better form than when last seen here and can't be ruled out, Chjimes is a Lingfield specialist who barely gets seven while Know No Fear is another doubtful stayer, so the way looks clear for Provost to go in again.
