The lightly raced VELOSO is selected to win the opener with Peruvian Prince and Kingsholm appearing to be the biggest dangers. The selection showed the benefit of a pipeopener at Lingfield three weeks previously to run out a ready winner of a seller last time. The quality of the opposition on that occasion was weak but he did it comfortably and could be one to improve upon his mark of 70. Peruvian Prince failed to land some hefty bets last time at Wolverhampton but is well weighted on the best of his form. Kingsholm lost his race at the start last time while it could also be argued that his rider was over confident on him. He was burdened with a 12lb penalty there but the manner of his victory on his penultimate outing suggested he should have been capable of carrying that. Taking into account that Inch Lodge was returning from a break last time it was a perfectly respectable effort but he is probably a fraction high in the weights at this stage of his career. Veloso is given the vote to land the opener.
