A race lacking strength in depth and the pair to concentrate on are Steel Cat and Ripple Effect, with the latter getting the nod. Andrew Balding's half-sister to winning sprinter Effervescent, also comes from the same family as Dewhurst winner Dashing Blade, so this trip shouldn't pose a problem for the filly. With Liam Keniry taking 5lbs off her back she gets a healthy 10lbs off her main rival Steel Cat, and that should be more than enough to enable her to lose her maiden tag. Steel Cat has shown enough on his two outings to date, to suggest he can win a little race, but he is out of a mare that stayed middle-distances and he may find this trip around here on the sharp side. Of the others, Uncle Max, who has a couple of decent efforts to his name, doesn't look one to trust, but may be good enough for the minor honours, while Best Flight is open to improvement, but he may do better in handicaps.
