Boisdale holds solid claims on the evidence of recent form and again ran well under today's pilot at Newcastle last time so is taken to gain a deserved success at the main expense of David's Symphony and Danakim. The last mentioned has the benefit of the assistance of one of the more experienced jockeys in Danny Tudhope and has claims on the pick of his form but has not shown that for some time and he is probably best watched. Top weight Gaudalpin faces no easy task giving weight away to older rivals and of more interest may be Spy Gun, who should appreciate the drop back in trip. Redoubtable still retains ability at the age of 14 but probably needs some help from the handicapper and of more interest may be David's Symphony, who won a banded stakes race here in April but has struggled in just two starts since but comes back following a break. Boisdale has an obvious chance though and gets the vote.
