This is not the strongest of races to start the afternoon off and if he can reproduce Southwell form on the Polytrack, Mick Easterby's BRIGHT SPARKY should take the beating under Serena Brotherton and he gets the vote to do just that with the main dangers rated as Go On Ahead and Amical Risks. Joss Saville's gelding ran his best race so far when narrowly beaten at Catterick when last seen in October and a reproduction of that form here would make him tough to beat but he does remain a maiden after 16 starts and looks best watched. Paul Howling's Desert Hawk has run well in his last two starts and has to be considered racing off the same mark today. Stable companion Our Kes is becoming expensive to follow and of more interest may be Barbirolli, who ran better at Lingfield last time. Go On Ahead has slipped to a fair mark and is another that ran better last time but Bright Sparky has solid claims and looks the one to beat.
