Smoothie gets the vote here ahead of Fight The Feeling, Top Trees, Grand Halo and Claptrap. The selection looks set to make bold bid under a penalty to follow up his recent course and distance win and has to be on the shortlist of nominations for this contest. Ipledgeallegiance has a bit to find on that form. Fight The Feeling has won here from a mark of 48 and is now rated 51 and, wearing a first-time visor, could be competitive. Top Trees won a Bath maiden in September and has gone well here from a higher mark in the past. Of the others, Grand Halo, whose dam is a half-sister to Dr Devious, is entitled to be improving and this does not represent a strong level of race. Fairy Wind is a multiple German winner and showed his best form in these isles when second at Southwell last time. Much as he seems to have regressed since those heady Teutonic days, he might have a roll of the dice still to come. Jamie Osborne runs Claptrap, whose best efforts have come here at around his current mark, while Sorbiesharry has won from a mark of 54 at Southwell and is now rated 46. Sabreline is another that should be more at home at this level, while Kentucky Bullet is actually rated four-pounds lower than for his course and distance win in July. For good measure, William Jarvis runs Phantom Stock. Much as he has some decent American blood on the dam¿s side of his pedigree, he has shown little in three turf starts and hasn't seen the racetrack for 423 days. This leads us back to Smoothie, who comes here in good heart.
