      Verdict

Baby Barry, placed in his last two starts on sand, has yet to prove his effectiveness over seven furlongs and is best left out of calculations with the vote going to recent selling winner Consignia, who gets the verdict over Pawn In Life and Gold Guest. The last mentioned has slipped to an attractive mark of late and showed signs of a return to form when fourth behind Pharaoh's Gold here over a mile last week. However, the David Evans-trained gelding has been on the downgrade for some time and is not the most reliable of customers. More solid claims are held by Pawn In Life but David Barron's gelding has an absence to overcome and has shown his best form at Southwell. On The Trail is better over shorter, while Victory Vee has struggled in handicaps since opening his account in a maiden here in August. The selection then is Consignia. Derek Haydn Jones has his string in fine form at present and the daughter of Definite Article further emphasized that when staying on well to win a seller here on Monday. Admittedly that was a poor contest and the selection has a penalty to carry but there are plenty of doubts about her opponents so Consignia may be worth chancing.
