In depth

Verdict

We suggest that Layer Cake is looking a little vulnerable in this company especially to an unexposed pair like Golden Button and EXPRESSIVE and it is with the latter that we side. Sir Michael Stoute's charge held her form without really improving from first run to second last time but with the filly well ahead of an animal rated 86 that day she seems to set the standard. Golden Button ran a very pleasing debut only finding a more experienced rival too good. He held a next time out winner, now rated 79, so the form has a solid look and he should improve for the run. Layer Cake has had plenty of opportunities to leave his maidens tag behind and seemed to take a step backwards in a poor race last time. Based on that and his official rating he has plenty to find again. Satwa Moon is a player here if building on a solid debut and Tiddliwinks looks the most interesting newcomer and is bred to go well as a three-year-old. This looks an intriguing maiden where Expressive is just the call.
