held up, headway, not clearest of runs and switched right over 1f out, never reached leaders
chased leaders, went 2nd halfway, driven to challenge over 1f out, kept on same pace inside final furlong
held up towards rear, headway well over 1f out, chased leaders over 1f out, one pace final furlong
chased leader to halfway, weakened 2f out
led after 1f, 2 lengths clear 2f out, came centre in straight, soon ridden, headed and no extra final 100 yards, lost 2nd on line
held up in rear, still plenty to do 2f out, headway on inside over 1f out, ran on inside final furlong, went 2nd post, not reached winner
held up and behind, headway to inside well over 1f out, hard ridden over 1f out, ran on under pressure to lead final 100 yards
raced very wide, close up until well over 2f out, no chance when rider unbalanced well over 1f out
chased leaders until weakened over 2f out
led 1f, chased leaders, ridden over 1f out, weakened inside final furlong
slowly away, behind, ridden over 1f out, some headway final furlong, never troubled leaders
Not a great contest but competitive nonetheless and the suggestion is DON PELE, with a nod of respect to Welcome Approach, Fantasy Fighter and Ask Jenny. The selection represents a yard going well, and the seven-year-old has done all of his winning in handicaps from higher marks than today's 60. Twice a winner over course and distance and with a decent draw in stall five, he gets the vote. Welcome Approach had the legs on Josiah Bartlett here last time and loves this place, although he has never won from a mark quite this high and has a wide draw to contend with so we will oppose. Fantasy Fighter has a course and distance win to his name and is 1lb higher than when going close here last time, so he has to be a threat, while wherever he finishes then Ask Jenny should not be far away. Residency is tried in different headgear after the visor failed last time, and he is not ruled out if able to produce his best, but Don Pele is a speculative selection.
