Bobby Rose is in cracking form at present but may not have enough to beat Carcinetto, who gets the vote, with Ryedane and Royal Challenge respected. Carcinetto improved when dropped back to this trip last time out, winning a handicap over c&d. A 5lb rise looks fair enough and the mare can defy that to follow up. Bobby Rose makes a hat-trick bid after scoring at both Kempton and Nottingham lately and he has gone up a total of 10lb for those successes. A win here is not out of the question but it seems more likely that the weight will anchor him now. Ryedane enjoy success at both Catterick and here over c&d before a rise in the weights found him out last time. Conditions here look ideal for him and he has won off higher marks in the past, so a good run is expected. Of the others, Royal Challenge makes appeal from an in-form yard, if he can see out the trip, but preference today is for Carcinetto.
