Verdict

Gentleman's Deal can defy topweight to beat Hazewind and Miss Polaris, with St Savarin making some appeal for each-way purposes. Gentleman's Deal is going the right way based on his two efforts so far and this giant of a horse who measures over 17 hands, should easily shrug off his burden today. It was no surprise when he trotted up at Chepstow after his debut fourth in better company at Newmarket in July, and although the opposition was not up to much at the Welsh track, he has more to offer and will not be bothered by the step back up in trip on breeding. Hazewind has had two tries on this surface already and was successful at York in September. He can give the selection a race along with Miss Polaris who is also on the upgrade, but the form of her Pontefract win is nothing special. St Savarin found all bar Go Tech too good at Redcar, and as the latter has since gone in again at York, we can expect John Best's runner to be there or thereabouts as well. An interesting contest can go to Gentleman's Deal who should pay to follow as he gets older.
