In a run-of-the-mill maiden, Gemology is selected ahead of Fair Sailing and New World Order. The Godolphin-owned Gemology showed plenty of promise on his soft-ground debut when second to the subsequent Dante third and Listed placed Al Shemali. He has had only one Nad Al Sheba run since and, in fairness, based on that debut run, he clearly looks to be the one to beat. There are some interesting newcomers in this contest, including the John Hills-trained Fair Sailing, a half-brother to Italian Derby winner White Muzzle, the Rae Guest-trained Mark Of The Fen, who cost 42,000 guineas but races in an eyeshield first time up, and the Michael Bell-trained 20,000 guineas son of Mujahid, Oat Cuisine. The ones to have shown ability on the racetrack have gained ratings only in the low 70s, and these are Beech Games, New World Order and Yab Adee, with New World Order suggested as the best of them. For the selection, though, we will stick with Gemology.
