Verdict
The step up in trip is expected to suit Mr Rein, who gets the nod over March Orchid and Hawkes Run, who have both shaped as if a race of this nature is within them if they get the breaks in running. The last named has plenty of experience over hurdles and is probably much better in that sphere. However, he ran a blinder over course and distance last month and should be capable of going close with a similar effort today. Day One has three lengths to find with the top weight on that run and, despite being open to improvement, he is hard to fancy today. So too is Opera Knight, in spite of the step up in trip being in his favour. He obviously suffered some sort of training set-back before his reappearance and is one to be wary of for the time being. Not so with Mr Rein, who has learnt a good deal from his three previous starts and we consider it significant enough that he is given another try in this company before moving on to the stiffer task of handicaps
