In depth

Verdict

Lazy Darren has the scope to progress and can beat the likes of Dubai Magic, Peregrine Falcon and Chookie Hamilton. With an eye to the future, Lazy Darren may well be one to follow as he bids to make his first venture into handicap company a winning one. Trained by Michael Wigham when making his debut at Newmarket in September, he was sent off as favourite on his first outing for Richard Hannon here just after Christmas, and did not disappoint as he came home clear of his nearest market rival Lord Oroko. He should get this slightly longer trip on breeding, and can come out on top. Dubai Magic also moves up in distance after finding one too good here a fortnight ago, but has topweight to overcome, while Peregrine Falcon was pulled up at Lingfield in November, and may be best watched. Chookie Hamilton needs to find just a bit more improvement to figure in the finish, but we expect Lazy Darren to prevail.
