Fowey looks to have obvious claims in a weak start to proceedings, with Countrywide Style and newcomers Picky and Miss Respect put up as other candidates. There are plenty of duck-eggs here, so the debut form of Fowey stands out, as Sir Mark Prescott's filly was a promising third on her Kempton debut last month despite running green. This daughter of Gone West cost $250,000 as a yearling, and should at least repay a small chunk of that here with minimal improvement. The others that have been seen out so far have little to recommend them, and so it may well be one of the debutants that proves the biggest danger. Picky and Ten A Penny hail from the stable that won this last year, while Miss Respect, the mount of stable jockey Paul Hanagan, looks the best of Richard Fahey's pair. Of the quartet mentioned, Ten A Penny gets a favourable report from his trainer, so is taken to make the frame at least, but our preference is for Fowey, with the slight drop in trip and good low draw to suit.
