Soothsay is the pick in the opener ahead of Mocha Java, Il Castagno, and Mr Rigsby. This is a fairly competitive affair, but Soothsay is selected to get back to winning ways after her second to Sands Of Barra at Brighton three weeks ago. That was her first attempt at seven furlongs, a trip more in keeping with her breeding, and although now racing off a three-pound higher mark, she has more improvement to come, on this, her first attempt on the Polytrack. Mocha Java went close on his first attempt on a Polytrack surface at Lingfield recently but now drops back in trip, while Il Castagno tries the all-weather for the first time and has topweight to overcome. Mr Rigsby bids for a second course and distance success after his debut victory in selling company, and it would appear that being gelded has straightened him out. Time will tell if he is well handicapped on a mark of 65, but for now we prefer the claims of Soothsay.
