There are plenty who have chances in this apprentice handicap to open the card but from a shortlist of SIREN SOUND, Lord Deevert and Caustic Wit we will side with Siren Sound. The selection is a filly in good form and she overcame a poor draw to score here last time out. Her previous run at Great Leighs has also worked out well and she stands out as the form pick. Lord Deevert has also been in good form of late but he was all-out to score at Lingfield last time and he has the worst of the draw here which will make life tough. Caustic Wit returns to the all-weather after a spell on the turf. He has winning form over this course and distance but he is a 10-year-old now and not the force that he once was and he can't be backed with confidence. David Probert takes the ride on Gwilym and that is a positive as he is desperate for winners in his battle with William Buick for the apprentice championship. Dazzling Bay ran well in third behind Wreningham at Great Leighs last time so he is another to consider, although it is worth noting that all his winning form has been on the turf. (Jamie Watson) This is a competitive event and the narrow vote is given to Siren Sound.
