Champagne Shadow may have been all out to land a similar contest over course and distance last time but the Tor Sturgis-trained gelding looks to have solid claims again and gets the vote to complete a hat trick with the main threats rated to be Bethanys Boy and Brastar Jelois. The last mentioned is capable but has struggled to trouble the judge since joining Reg Hollinshead from France and may have to settle for a minor role again. Callitquits ran better in a course and distance seller last time but this looks tougher for him, while Lady Ambitious has given little cause of optimism so far. Michael Bell's Chiff Chaff is less exposed than most of these and has to be of interest dropped into this class with useful apprentice Luke Morris taking the ride. It may not be easy for the three-year-old against older rivals though and a bigger threat may come from Bethanys Boy who is better than recent form suggests. Champagne Shadow is very much the form horse of the race though and he gets the vote.
