Out After Dark is taken to appreciate the drop back to five furlongs and can win today at the main expense of Cape Royal, and Golden Dixie. Clive Cox's son of Cadeaux Genereux is effective on all types of ground and should be happier now reverting to five furlongs (4 of 6 wins have come over this trip). The stable's horses have been consistently making the frame and with a winner last week, Clive Cox may find himself back in the winners enclosure. Cape Royal has tremendous early speed which helps to explain his love for the speedy skiing slope of Epsom however he has also won over this course and distance, so, fully effective on the ground, he looks a threat off this feasible mark of 92. Zowington has blinkers on for the first time and Chris Wall's capable grey cannot be underestimated, whilst neither can Texas Gold although quicker ground suits. Golden Dixie won well at Salisbury last time out but he is another who would like quicker ground, so therefore Phantom Whisper may be of more interest after a belting run last time out behind Aahayson in a valuable handicap. A tricky puzzle to start off with, however Out After Dark has slipped to an attractive mark and can get his head back in front.
