Custodian will be a popular choice and should take all the beating, with Miss Inch, Giant's Way and Lord Raffles taken to chase him home. Henry Cecil does not run too many on the all-weather, and Custodian certainly attracted plenty of attention on his debut here three weeks ago. Having refused to enter the stalls on an earlier visit to the racecourse, he consented to take part this time, and despite still looking a bit nervous, was only beaten close home by subsequent winner Newnham. That should have taught him something, and this well-bred colt, whose dam is a full-sister to Tenby, should have little trouble in going one better today, with Jamie Spencer in the saddle. Like the selection, Giant's Way is by Giant's Causeway, and she too is well-bred, being a half-sister to middle-distance winner Poise, while the dam is related to Daylami no less. If fit enough, she could easily take a hand, along with Miss Inch who has the benefit of having raced twice already. Geoff Wragg's filly had a sighter of the Polytrack when turning out at Wolverhampton on the second of those two outings in November, and that should stand her in good stead. Lord Raffles switches code after finishing 11th to stablemate Pressgang in a Newbury bumper three weeks ago and is best watched, but Custodian cannot be opposed.
