John Hills has his team in good form at present and, having been drawn in stall three, his runner STANLEY GOODSPEED looks worth chancing to obtain what would be a deserved first success in three years with the main dangers looking to be Sea Land and Diego Rivera. Peter Makin's gelding has only won once from 15 starts but ran his best race for some time when a close third behind Ugenius over course and distance last month and he has to be respected after that effort. Chris Wall's Bermondsey Girl opened her account when landing a handicap at Lingfield two starts ago on her first start in the grade but she was well held here last time and may not be suited by the stiffer track here. Chief Red Cloud seems to be a shade high in the weights at present and of more interest may be Brian Ellison's Sea Land, who was just ahead of Diego Rivera when second to Ugenius. Preference though is for Stanley Goodspeed, who has been running consistently well of late and he looks worth siding with having dropped to a fair mark.
