Verdict

The two newcomers Colonel Munro and Square Pants make limited appeal first time up in a claimer in a race where AL KHIMIYA comes into the contest in good form is well treated at the weights and she is hard to oppose. Simon Callaghan's filly opened her account when dropped into this grade at Kempton last month, getting up close home to beat Jehu by a length and a quarter and giving the impression that the extra furlong today would suit. Alan McCabe's Springwell Giant has been placed in both starts in sellers so far and cannot be discounted but she may struggle to give the selection 2lbs and a beating. Underworld Dandy belied odds of 16/1 when landing a nursery at Kempton last month but is likely to find this tougher, while Daniella de Bruijn faces no easy task under 9st 1lb but may improve for stepping up from six furlongs. Mick Channon's Gold Fix has won two of his last four starts and has to be respected off what seems a decent racing weight but Al Khimiya has plenty in her favour and she gets the vote.
