High Reach is the selection in a competitive affair on paper, with no end of dangers including Bonus, Eisteddfod, Alderney Race and Yomalo to name but a few. High Reach and Eisteddfod met at Goodwood at the end of May, with the latter coming out on top to the tune of two-and-a-half lengths, but the selection now reopposes on six-pound better terms, and hopes are high that Terry Mills's runner can turn the tables. They both bypassed a crack at Iffraaj in the Wokingham to wait for this, and it should be a cracking confrontation, but Eisteddfod has plenty of weight despite Nelson De Souza's claim. Bonus ran a blinder on his belated return to action at Newmarket and will also be popular, but his forcing tactics will make him vulnerable to those coming from just off the pace. However, he should be kept very much on the right side for imminent success. Alderney Race did well to finish as close as sixth in the Wokingham last week after stumbling at the start and should also be in the shake-up, while Greenslades, Yomalo and Lapwing can all figure without being good enough on the day. At the weights though, High Reach has to be favoured here, as it is worth pointing out that he was only a length behind Iffraaj at Kempton in March, ahead of Eisteddfod again, and giving six-pounds to the winner. Enough said.
