Verdict
A smashing little race for this 10-furlong, Group 3 event, with the narrow vote going to Island House. A Group 3 - and multiple Listed - winner, Geoff Wragg's horse is genuinely competitive at this level and will probably prefer this level track to Sandown, where he raced last time. If you take Burning Sun form literally then he has the beating of Highdown, who looks a key rival tonight. Marcus Tregoning's four-year-old colt won at Group 2 level at this time last year, and was good enough to short-head Moon Ballad during the same season. He is entitled to have improvement in him after two solid runs this year and ought to be competitive at this level. Unlucky to come up against Indian Creek in the Group 2 Gordon Richards Stakes at Sandown in April, Bourgainville, although useful, will probably have to settle for place-money, at best, once again. Mr Tango has won plenty of races abroad but has a bit to find on his English form. Razkalla is also progressive and has won five of his eight races so far. He is useful and you will get a run for your money. This leaves Leporello. Despite meeting trouble in running at Haydock last time, he still managed to win a competitive and valuable handicap. With his stable in form, he could go well but, overall, he needs to step up a good bit on the bare level of his runs to date. However, his presence adds further spice to an already-intriguing event, one that can go to Island House.
