It's hard to get away from the claims of Millstreet, who gets our vote ahead of Gamut. The selection won at Listed level in Ireland last year for John Oxx and has confirmed his wellbeing this year, not least when a four-length sixth to Ange Gabriel in a French Group One race last time. That form makes him a worthy favourite. Gamut has to be respected. A good win at Newbury first time up this year was followed by a third-place finish in the Group 2 Princess Of Wales's Stakes behind Millenary - and in front of Bollin Eric - last time. He's clearly had his problems but, by the same token, does not look talent, but the concession of seven pounds to the selection might prove too much. Best of the others looks to be Hawksbill. He too is lightly-raced and open to improvement. However, the best of what we have seen of him needs a big leap forward for him to defy Millstreet here.
